This coin has it all! For the ultimate type set. PCGS population of only 2 coins. Housed in an old green label PCGS holder1855-O G$1 PCGS MS 63 - This without a doubt, the nicest 1855O Gold Dollar I've ever seen or handled. When even found in uncirculated condition, they are almost always lackluster and poorly struck. This coin has a bold strike, and tremendous freshness. Its surfaces are very choice and frankly I can't understand why it didn't grade MS-64. For the finest set. CAC stickered for premium quality.1857-S G$3 NGC AU 55 - This is a super nice example of this very rare date $3 Gold piece. Boldly struck with excellent color and luster. NGC population of only 23 coins. Trends=$15,000.1862 PATT $10 J-298 PCGS PR 65 BN - This is an interesting pattern using an early form of the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" that is now common to US Coins. The idea behind placing a reference to God on coins drew much support during the early days of the Civil War and would become standard practice a few years later. Patterns were struck with various forms of the motto. This coin, referenced in Judd/Pollack as J-289 is struck in bronze copper. The obverse is that of a regular $10 Liberty and the reverse is similar to a $10 Liberty but with the motto GOD OUR TRUST above the eagle.
The coin itself is pristine and of superb eye appeal. The surfaces are an even, glossy brown nearly devoid of marks. Only a small contact mark in front of Liberty's ear and a small spot in the right obverse field limit the grade. The coin is cataloged as an R-6, with 21-30 examples known. The latest Judd reference book places the population at 22 pieces total. PCGS has graded a total of 15 examples, including only 5 in this grade and just a single coin finer. An interesting piece that represents a transition in U.S. coinage that is still relevant today.1862-S G$2.50 PCGS AU 58 - Struck to the extent of only 8,000 pieces, the 1862-S quarter eagle is rare in any grade and exceptionally so in Mint State. The present coin, has great detail and attractive golden color, a strong strike, and minimal marks on either side.
